I expect I have spent more time than most working, staying and living in hotels and Airbnb’s etc. When in London I knew to some extent most of the quality hotels and some of the crash pads in the West End due to working as part-time duty security, working events, internal investigations or providing close protection to resident clients. In time those workplaces also became places I would meet with potential clients.
Since those days I have literally spend months at a time living in and working from hotels internationally, ranging from five-star to no hope of any stars… In one recent 12-month period I was living from 8 different hotel’s and Airbnb’s in several different countries. My lifestyle is nomadic, and I am mostly at home when traveling. So, this means I understand hotel security, travel security and management from both sides of the counter.
The standard of security in most hotels is very low and it is not hard for non-hotel residents to go up onto the hotel floors. It’s concerning that most travelers expect and believe the hotels they are staying in to be secure, I tell my clients they should take the same precautions inside hotels as they would on the street.
