There are numerous reports coming out from the terrorist attack at a Hanukkah event in Bondi Beach in Australia of unarmed bystanders who intervened to disarm the two terrorists. There are also worrying reports that armed police in the area, hid from the terrorists, and did not engage them. The unarmed bystanders who intervened need to be rewarded, and the cops that hid, should be discharged and criminally charged for cowardice.
I am not sure about Australia’s guidelines for active shooter incidents but in the United Kingdom the government guidelines for the public are to “Run, Hide, and Tell”, if civilians are caught up in a terrorist attack. This may fit the woke UK government’s agenda of demasculation, but in real world terms it is very naive and pathetic.
I understand things need to be kept simple so the general population can understand things, but… I also understand the perspective of minimizing casualties by people not confronting armed attackers, but… Where terrorist attacks are concerned should able bodied men run and hide and potentially leave women, young children, and the elderly, who might not be able to run, to be slaughtered? The Bondi Beach attack is a good example of people relying on the government and police to protect them, and the one time when they needed the police to protect them, it took 20 minutes for competent cops to turn up.
People need to understand the threat of terrorist attacks is increasing, and running, hiding and telling people about it will just lead to the deaths of innocent and defenseless people. But, for some governments, a defenseless and demasculated population fits their agenda. Wake up people and try to understand that government guidelines are for government interests, not yours!
