It’s being reported that a local Bondi Beach police detective shot and killed one of the terrorists that attacked a Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach in Australia last weekend with his service pistol from approximately 40 meters away. 

Firstly, excellent work by this police detective. It’s clear from the reportedly questionable behavior of many of the police present that day, that the Australian Police Force need more men like this detective.

This incident again emphasizes the need for those who carry handguns for defensive purposes to be able to shoot their weapons accurately at distance. I hear too many expert tactical fairies stating all the time that handguns are not effective or accurate past 20 meters etc. and you need to use a carbine past that distance. 

The reality is 1. If you cannot shoot a handgun accurately past 20 meters you are poorly trained or physically challenged. 2. If you do not understand the capabilities of your weapons, then you are challenged. 3. If you need a long gun to shoot past 20 meters and don’t have one, what are you going to do? 

In most places for legal concealed carry and armed security duties you can only carry a pistol, if you are lucky. In most places military caliber carbines are very restricted… So, where will your carbines appear from? It seems many expert tactical fairies have spent too much time tactical cosplaying on cozy gun ranges, and have spent very little time, if any, in the real world…
