I expect I have spent more time than most working, staying and living in hotels and Airbnb’s etc. When in London I knew to some extent most of the quality hotels and some of the crash pads in the West End, due to working as freelance security, securing events, providing internal investigations or close protection services to resident clients and the hotels. In time those workplaces also became places I would meet with potential clients.
Since those days I have literally spend months at a time living in and working from hotels internationally, ranging in standards from five-star, to no hope of any stars… For one recent 12-month period, I was solely living in and working from different hotels and Airbnb’s in numerous countries. My lifestyle is nomadic, and I am mostly at home when traveling. So, this means I understand hotel security, travel security and management from both sides of the counter.
The standard of security in most hotels is very low and it is not hard for non-hotel residents to go up onto the hotel floors. It’s concerning that most travelers expect and believe the hotels they are staying in to be secure, I tell my clients they should take the same precautions inside hotels as they would on the street.
